BAFTA worthy Scholars' Dinner

BAFTA-winning screenwriter and producer Hannah Richards, who won Best Documentary in 2022-3 for The Real Mo Farah, joined our Year 13 scholars as they led the entire scholars' cohort in a joyful celebration of their achievements this year. The event was a memorable occasion filled with inspiration, reflection, and outstanding performances.
Hannah’s talk focused on the power of storytelling—particularly how the narratives we tell ourselves shape our achievements and sense of possibility. The scholars were captivated by her message and are eager to invite her back for further discussions or even a future screenwriting workshop.

Adding to the evening’s brilliance, Tabatha in Year 13 and Cordie in Year 11 delivered stunning vocal and drama performances from Waitress and The Hours. Katie in Year 13 also showcased her intellectual curiosity with a compelling presentation on her EPQ question, exploring how Marxist Literary Theory can enhance our understanding of Tom Ripley in Patricia Highsmith’s Talented Mr. Ripley series.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the diverse and enriching experiences scholars have had throughout the year. We looked back at the engaging discussions led in Scholars’ Society, the impactful workshops from the Mayfield Festival of Ideas, and the numerous highlights in scholarship areas including Sport, Drama, Music, Art, Riding, Jubilee, and Academic.
A particularly poignant moment came when the Year 13 Leavers shared their wisdom and advice with the younger scholars, passing on the baton to the next generation of leaders.

"The scholar's programme has given me so many opportunities throughout my time at Mayfield, but the best one has been the reminder that there's still so much to learn outside of the classroom." – Breanna
“We leave not as who we were, but as who we have become- bold, curious and ready thanks to the opportunities the Scholars’ Programme gave us.”- Charlotte
