Live Crib

One unique, but beloved, aspect of life at Mayfield is the annual Live Crib carol service. Entirely pupil-led, Live Crib is a wonderfully joyful celebration of the Nativity story, which willfully ignores the old stage maxim ‘never work with children or animals’, as donkeys, dogs, babies and real-life angels all take centre stage in the journey through Mayfield village, as Mary and Joseph get turned away from the inn before finding their way into the ancient School Chapel, where they find rest before being visited by the shepherds and the wise men. Students, Old Cornelians, villagers and schoolchildren come from miles around to join in this beloved Christmas tradition.
